What Is a Nonwoven Fabric?

A nonwoven fabric, sometimes referred to as a nonwoven geotextile fabric, is, in general, a sheet or web-style structure made of entangled fibers, filaments, films or molten plastic. These materials have been bonded together through mechanical, chemical or thermal means to form sheets that are flat and porous. In other words — the fibers that make up the material are not woven, hence the use of the term "nonwoven fiber." Industries of many different types can make use of nonwovens. With many possible applications, nonwoven polypropylene fabric is quite common.
