Friction Reduction
Built-in lubrication reduces surface wear and maintains smooth motion under load.

While many self-lubricating polymers rely on PTFE or other fluorinated additives, EcoLube™ achieves comparable friction performance using PFAS-free, internally integrated lubricants. These compounds deliver stable tribological behavior across load, temperature, and cycle variation, reducing startup resistance, minimizing debris, and eliminating the need for secondary greasing in motion-critical assemblies.
By controlling friction and wear at the material level, EcoLube™ supports cleaner assembly, tighter tolerances, and reliable motion across plastic-on-plastic and plastic-on-metal interfaces.
Key Features
EcoLube™ MD grades are engineered for surgical, diagnostic, and wearable device components that require smooth, reliable motion without greases, oils, silicones, or other external lubricants. Formulated using medical-grade lubricated materials, EcoLube™ MD compounds support cleanroom assembly, repeat cycling, and consistent friction behavior.
To ensure reliability in regulated programs, these compounds are built on locked formulations that maintain material consistency over time. Select grades are available as biocompatible thermoplastics tested to ISO 10993-5, supporting safe use in patient-contact and high-cycle medical interfaces.
Key Features

Key considerations for integrating internally lubricated compounds into extrusion and injection molding processes while maintaining friction performance, wear resistance, and processing stability.
Ultimately it is process, application, and material dependent. However in most cases we see processibility maintained or improved when moving to a PFAS-free substitute.
For this application we would like to recommend Ecolube™ LLDPES2. It contains a functionalized silicone designed for processing. Please let us know the CTQs like MFR, Flexural requirements, application and we can provide.
We do not have a product currently, however Americhem is working on developing this product as part as future PFAS-replacement opportunities. We are targeting 2027 development. We are focusing on polypropylene, polycarbonate, and polycarbonate alloys that achieve a V-0 rating.
There are several Ecolube™ grades that UL listings and associated yellow cards. Please reach out for more details or requirements.
Yes, in addition to graphite Americhem has worked with and has formulations containing Chopped Strand Carbon Fiber, Milled Carbon Fiber, Single and Multi-wall carbon nanotubes, and graphene.
EcoLube™ compounds function as wear-resistant polymers, delivering stable friction behavior over extended cycling. This durability reduces maintenance requirements, improves part life, and removes an external lubrication step from production.
These PFAS-free motion plastics provide long-lasting, consistent internal lubrication that supports efficient assembly and reliable operation across medical, industrial, transportation, consumer, and building hardware systems.
